Dear Resident

You are receiving this because you live in the vicinity of a burglary that occurred on Victoria Avenue, Ilkley. This occurred sometime between  9.20pm on 18/10/2025 and 7am on 19/10/2025. The method of attack was by snapping the cylinder lock allowing entry. 

The unidentified suspect/s gained entry to the kitchen door and conducted a tidy search of the ground floor rooms before leaving empty handed. It is believed that they were looking for the keys to the victim's vehicle which they failed to locate.

Firstly if you have CCTV or a doorbell camera please check it between (please add times if known) to check if you had any activations. 

Secondly if you have a door with a cylinder lock (composite or UPVC doors mainly) please check the lock. 

Make sure you are satisfied with the rating and is fitted correctly. The locks we recommend have 3 stars written on the front (see image) and are TS007 or SS312 rated. Many firms offer these anti-snap locks. Whilst we do not wish to scare anyone, it is always good to review your own security, and report anything suspicious to the Police.
